Home decorating doesn’t necessarily need to be pressured. It can be a very enjoyable process. Some choose to complete entire home decorating projects all at once. Others may select to complete the project room by room.
We were recently invited to quote for this complete home decorating project. This family had moved home and were completing extensive renovations. It was their aim to make the spaces work for them. We are currently working with them to redecorate their beautiful home.
Once again, preparation is key. The walls were freshly plastered. Even fresh plaster needs preparing. It can be dusty, and it always needs a coat of thin paint. New plaster needs the application of a mist coat. This is a mixture of paint and water. Some advice will say to mix it with equal parts. However, it is often a good idea to use slightly more paint than water. After the mist coat has dried you should then be able to apply your topcoat.
A Quick Tip for Mist Coating:
When applying a mist coat, it is important not to use a vinyl-based paint. Why? If you use vinyl paint, it will likely peel on fresh plaster. It is better to use a water-based emulsion. This will give you a better finish. You only need to apply one coat of mist coat.
The transformation of this home has been incredible. It is an ongoing project, and we look forward to being part of it. It is a great example of how a house can be changed in order to make it personal and work for you. We will continue to update our blog with further images of this project.
