We are soon entering our approach to external decorating. We tend to collect a list of clients through the winter months and start the quoting process as we head towards spring. This allows us to build a list for the milder months to complete the decorating work.

Why is milder weather better for external decorating?

It is important that when you are decorating your house that you select a time where the weather is mild. Ideally you need the external woodwork to be thoroughly dry. Painting woodwork outside is also not ideal if it is too cold. Alongside this, it is also not advisable to decorate outside when it is too hot. Why is this? The paint will likely dry too quickly so it makes application more challenging.

As we enter the Spring there are often a list of jobs that we put together to make our homes summer ready. We all like to spend a lot of time outside in the warmer weather so flaking paint can be detracting.

Why is flaking paint bad?

If you are in a position where your external woodwork is flaking this means that water can seep through to the wood. It therefore leaves it unprotected and likely to damage if left for any period of time. It is important to seek the help of a professional decorator who can help to prepare, sand back and repaint your external woodwork. Selecting a high-quality external paint is pivotal to the success of the job.

This project was completed last season. The work was extensive, so we got to work stripping back the old, flaking paint. This often quite a revealing process. While completing this process, you will often find more extensive damage than originally planned. Although this may add complexity to the work, it is important that this is all identified, and a solution found to fix the issue. This allows you to work methodically around the house. The transformation was incredible, and our clients were ecstatic.
